Scope and Contents
The Quirk Dramatic Arts and Sponberg Theatre Buildings records provide historical information on the theater facilities of Eastern Michigan University, including their construction, dedication, and renovation. In 2020, the building was renamed the Judy Sturgis Hill Building and the Legacy - Sponberg Theatres. The collection covers the years 1935 to 2008, with the largest portion of the material from 1981-1986, the period of planning, fundraising, and construction of the Sponberg Theatre and renovations to the theater in general. There are newspaper clippings (including coverage of Carol Channing's visit in 1983), blueprints, press releases, brochures, flyers, correspondence, manuscripts, and memorabilia in the collection.

Biographical / Historical
James Green started at EMU in 1947 as an assistant librarian. James went on to be President Elliotts assitant in 1951 and later went on to be named VP of Planning and Development in 1958.
