Scope and contents
The Nathan Harvey papers are comprised of material related to the life, research, and historical textbook collection of Dr. Nathan Harvey, professor of pedagogy at Michigan State Normal College from 1904-1925. The collection includes biographical material on members of the Harvey family, a photograph of Dr. Harvey, some items of personal correspondence and a brief obituary notice, several inventories and catalogues of his book collection, and correspondence and clippings related to its donation to EMU. It also includes two articles by Dr. Harvey, "The Psychology of Insects" (1909) and "The Influence of Darwinism Upon Psychology" (1909) and a book, Physiological Psychology (1911), as well as notes upon other subjects related to his research into the history of education. Also included are two mid-19th century exercise books signed with the name Laura Harvey, on subjects including bookkeeping, compound interest, mathematics, geography, and poetry.
