Scope and Contents
The Federation of Teachers records contains material associated with the Eastern Michigan University Federation of Teachers (EMU-FT) from 1969-2011. Though the records cover a wide range of topics, the bulk of the records were created during campaign periods for the EMU-FT. Mainly these records were created from 1971-1975 as the organization shared campaign issues, position papers, notices of events, open correspondences in favor of EMU-FT, invitations to join EMU-FT, and legal delays pertaining to the election itself. Most of the records are memorandum released from EMU-FT.
The Federation of Teachers records pertain, but are not limited to, tenure positions, women's rights, salary, and academic facilities and resources. The EMU-FT sought to protect the rights of the faculty by being elected by them, and created records regarding those actions. Materials in this collection are arranged alphabetically.
