Scope and Contents
William F. Shuter was an emeritus professor from the Eastern Michigan University Department of English, Language, and Literature from 1968 until 2004. The majority of the William F. Shuter papers are research files dating from 1968 through 2004. They are arranged by topic including general research and writing, his research on Walter Pater, and his research on contemporary religion. The majority of the Research and Writing files consist of correspondence, research notes, publication information, and work completed as a college student. Also included in the collection are Shuter's 1954 yearbook from Brooklyn College and two engraved replicas of a pocket watch that Shuter was gifted for 30 years of teaching at EMU.
