Scope and Contents
Dr. Janice J. Terry was a professor in the Eastern Michigan University History Department and taught courses in Middle Eastern studies from 1968 through 2005. In 2005, she retired and was nominated for Emeritus Faculty Status. The Janice J. Terry papers include such records as awards, clippings, correspondence, course descriptions, CVs, fellowship applications, recommendations, photographs, publications, particularly articles, sabbatical applications, materials related to the October 1998 Ilan Pappe visit, October 1998 Mcandless Lecturer, Tasheen Basher a series titled Speeches which includes talks held at Eastern Michigan University between 1997 and 2003 and the Iraq-Kuwait History talk which was held on February 5, 1991. Terry was influential in the Arab American community and worked closely with the Association of Arab American University Graduates.

Biographical Note
Dr. Janice J. Terry was a professor in Eastern Michigan University History Department and taught courses in Middle Eastern studies from 1968 through her retirement in 2005.
Dr. Terry earned her BA in History and English Literature from the College of Wooster in 1964, her M.A. in Arab Studies at the American University of Beirut in 1966, and her Ph.D. in Oriental and African Studies from the University of London in 1968. In 1968 she was hired at Eastern Michigan University as an Assistant Professor; she was promoted to Associate Professor in 1972, and Professor in 1978. When she retired in 2005, she was nominated for Emeritus Faculty Status. While at Eastern, Dr. Terry served on the History Department Personnel and Finance Committee and the Student Affairs Committee. She also served as the co-editor of Arab Studies Quarterly from 1999.

Abstract
Dr. Janice J. Terry was a professor in the Eastern Michigan University History Department and taught courses in Middle Eastern studies from 1968 through 2005.
