Continuous Improvement Operations Council (CIOC) records
Scope and Contents
The Continuous Improvement Operations Council (CIOC) records document the efforts of the CIOC, originally formed as the Continuous Improvement Administrative Council (CIAC) in 2001. Records in the collection predate the formation of the CIAC and span from 1992 through 2010 with the bulk of the collection dating from 2001-2010.
The Continuous improvement Operations Council collection is made up of three series; Administration Files, CIOC Personnel and Department Self-Study, and National Conferences and Meetings.
The Administration series includes all offices records, files, receipts, and other information pertinent to the running of the CIOC, excluding personnel files.
The CIOC Personnel and Department Self-Study series contains personnel files of several key CIOC members as well as departmental self-studies and files which were informative to the CIOC's planning and recommendations.
The National Conferences and Meetings series documents events attended by representatives of the CIOC.

The original advising body, named the Continuous Improvement Advisory Council or CIAC, was developed in September of 2002. The goal of this twenty-four person team was to facilitate organizational change activities that would provide advice and strategic planning for the continuing improvement of Eastern Michigan University’s academic programs. In 2004, when the CIAC gained acceptance into the Higher Learning Commission’s Academic Quality Improvement Program, or AQIP, they established the Continuous Improvement Operations Council (CIOC), which now provides guidance for EMU in all areas concerning AQIP ideals and policies.

Accruals note
University Archives continues to add materials to the collection. To reflect additions, edits to the finding aid will occur at the end of each calendar year.
