Richard "Dick" Oltmanns collection
Abstract
The Richard "Dick" Oltmanns collection are slide presentations created and given by Richard Oltmanns while on the faculty of Eastern Michigan University on campus and in the community. Oltmanns who was a graduate of the Michigan State Normal College returned to campus in 1956 and joined the faculty in the College of Education and the Library where he was the coordinator of Media Services. Materials in the collection are complete slide sets of presentations given by Oltmanns at the University and in the community. Materials in the collection are organized alphabetically by presentation location, e.g. Alaska, California, Florida, etc. Some presentations include notes and scripts. Oltmanns had a background in photography and taught courses in media education. He received a second master's degree in Historic Preservation from Eastern Michigan University. Oltmanns retired in 1988 and relocated to Florida, he died in 2014.

Biographical note
Richard G. 'Dick' Oltmanns was born May 29, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Michigan State Normal College with a bachelor's degree in Education in 1954 and from Indiana University with a Master's degree in Audio Visual Education in 1955. He returned to Ypsilanti to join the Library staff in 1956 as the coordinator of Media Services and Assistant Professor in the College of Education. He received a second Master's degree in Historic Preservation from EMU. He retired in 1988 as an Emeritus Professor and moved to Naples, Florida with his first wife Helen Stremick, who was also a Michigan State Normal College alumna and taught at the Lincoln Consolidated Schools and died in 2001. Oltmanns died January 13, 2014 at the age of 81.
