TeResa Green was born in Detroit, Michigan on 19 October 1950. She received her B.S. in Biology from Wayne State University, her Master's degree in Public Administration from Central Michigan University, and her PhD in political science from Wayne State University. She began her career at Eastern Michigan University in 1997 as an instructor in the Department of Political Science. She served as interim department head from 2003 to 2004, during which time she enhanced advising services to student, including a new peer-advising program, fostered student group developments and activism, led the department's program review efforts, and significantly increased the number of majors. She was promoted to associate professor in 2003. Her research focused on urban public policy, African American politics and policy, gender politics and policy, and African American religion and politics. While at Eastern, she received several awards, distinctions, and honors including the Outstanding Faculty Award from the Holman Learning Center, Outstanding Professor from the African American Future Teachers Student Group, Outstanding Adviser from the CAS Advising Office, and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Honor award. She passed away on 22 December 2005.
