Scope and Contents

The John A. Fallon III records range from years 2005-2007. The records are arranged into 4 series: Administrative Files, Events, Press, and Visual Material. The Administrative Files series includes the files: Court Case Notes Involving Laura Dickinson, Elderwise, Engagement Calendar, Minutes, Vita. The Events series includes the files: Cards and Invitations, Fall Convocation and Institutional Values Awards, and the subseries: Investiture. Within the Press series, files included are: Ann Arbor News/Ypsilanti Courier, Clippings, Eastern Michigan Magazine, Focus Articles, New Releases, Periodic Update, Press Conference 2005, Public Diary, and Remarks to Board of Regents. The Visual Material series includes gifts and photographs. The collection also includes a copy of John A. Fallon's Dissertation: A Study of the Relationship Between Selected Demographic Variable and the Congruence of Community School Directors' Perceptions of Black Parent Attitudes Toward Community Education.

Biographical Note

Dr. John A. Fallon, III was appointed president of Eastern Michigan University by a unanimous vote of the EMU Board of Regents at its regular meeting March 15, 2005. Fallon took office July 15, 2005.

Fallon earned his Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Michigan State University in 1973. He has a M.A. in Educational Administration from Northern Michigan and a B.S. in education from Western Michigan University. Prior to his appointment as president of SUNY-Potsdam, he served as president of William Penn University from 1995 to 1998. He was the vice president for public affairs at Saginaw Valley State University from 1989 to 1995. Fallon served in a number of administrative roles at Ball State University from 1982 to 1987.

Fallon was dismissed from his position as President by the Board of Regents in July 2007 in response to actions taken after the campus murder of Laura Dickinson in 2006.
