Abstract
The Richard "Dick" Schwarze photograph collection contains photographic formats from the campus photographer Dick Schwarze taken during his time as campus photographer from 1970-2006. Subjects represented in the collection include campus and community events, student life, and campus grounds and facilities. Also included in the collection are a significant number of headshots of faculty and staff, including University President William E. Shelton.
The collection contains color as well as black and white photographic prints that range in date from the early 1970s through 1997. Negatives that are organized

Biographical Note
Richard "Dick' Schwarze served as Eastern Michigan University photographer from 1970 to 2006. Before joining campus staff, Schwarze served in Vietnam with the United States Army, and briefly attended Wayne State University in Detroit. During his 36 year career, Schwarze won numerous campus and professional awards, including the Institutional Values Award for continuous improvement, innovation, and customer service in 2005. His photography captures many aspects of life at Eastern Michigan University, and has been used for promotional work as well as public relations campaigns.
