Abstract

The Historic Audio Recordings collection consists of audio reel-to-reel created between 1949, during the school's centennial celebration, and 1976. Recordings document important events on the campus as well as national events, guest speakers, visiting dignitaries, and faculty members lecturing on their areas of specialization. Highlights in the collection include commencement speeches; dedication of the Frederick Alexander Memorial Organ in Pease Auditorium and Pierce Hall; and speeches by political figures such as Robert Kennedy, Hubert H. Humphrey, G. Mennan Williams, and George Romney.

The provenance of the collection is unclear as is the originating office of responsibility. It appears that at one time recordings could be checked out from the library.
