Scope and Contents
Michigan State Normal College Financial records contain materials dating from the period 1881 - 1945. Examples of the types of financial transactions documented include student tuition payments, staff and faculty salary payments, operational expenses, and book and supply purchases.
At times, separate volumes were maintained for different accounting components, while during some periods all accounting was maintained in one volume. All of the records are contained in bound volumes. Each volume is organized in chronological order by department. Several volumes include indexes.
The Michigan State Normal College Financial records have been divided into seven series, based on function: Ledgers, Journals, Day Books, Receipts and Disbursements, Cash Ledgers, Account Books and Inventory of Property.
