The Presidential Commission on the Future of Eastern Michigan University reports consist primarily of task force reports on varying topics regarding facets of the University's administration. The Commission was created in 1975, with final reports published in 1976.
The Presidential Commission on the Future of Eastern Michigan University reports have been divided into a series of Task Force reports, which are arranged numerically. Also included in this series are copies of the final report, as well as rough drafts.
There are two additional files of relevant clippings and of Commission meeting minutes.

Administrative History
The Presidential Commission on the Future of Eastern Michigan University was established in 1975 as a joint faculty-administrative initiative, motivated in part by the 1974 EMU-AAUP Agreement, which included the following provision, "The President shall appoint a Committee to consider long range university planning..." Monroe Friedman, Professor of Psychology, put together a proposal for a study, and Associate Professor of History Walter G. Moss was named as Executive Director.
University President James H. Brickley appointed 13 members to the Commission, which was chaired by Stewart D. Work, Professor of Chemistry and former chairperson of the Faculty Senate.
