Scope and Contents

The Athletic Negative collection is composed of negatives of Michigan State Normal College athletic teams as well as images from the Physical Education department who was responsible for organizing women's athletics on campus and tightly integrated with the Athletic department in the 1950s when these images were taken. The collection has been divided by sport and includes 8 series: Football, Cross Country, Track, Basketball, Baseball, Golf, and Physical Education. The negatives within each sport are identified by athlete or event with the Football, Baseball and Physical Education series being the most extensively documented. The photographer is unknown, but all images likely date between 1950 - 1959.
