Scope and Contents
The Arrival records document a student organization concerned with access and services provided to disabled students at Eastern Michigan University. The records include materials relating to the operations of the organization and the activities and events that supported their mission. The Arrival records have been divided into two series: Administration and Communications and Events. The Administration series includes materials related to the founding and operations of the Arrival organizations, particularly correspondence, Office of Campus Life student organization records, membership rosters, meeting minutes and reports. The Communications and Events series includes materials published and distributed by the Arrival organization. It includes clippings, news releases, pamphlets and flyers, Handicap Awareness Week planning materials, and photographs and negatives.

Open for research. Researchers are asked to request materials at least 24 hours prior to use through the University Archives.
Administrative History
Arrival was an informational and social organization whose mission was to establish a connecting link between the University and disabled students with the eventual goal of providing all disabled students with a degree from Eastern Michigan University. The organization also wished to make the University and its community aware of the disabled students and their special needs in order to create a positive change with the ultimate goal of making disabled students aware of the services that are available to them. Arrival served students of all ages, primarily those who were physically disabled. It also helped to inform anyone seeking information or advice on how to work with disabled people (from the Arrival Office of Campus Life records, Box 1, Folder 2).
