The Golden Key International Honour Society collection contains information on correspondence, finances, special events, meeting minutes, member rosters, newsletters and National Convention. The collection is arranged alphabetically and is divided into two series. Records date from 1983 to 2004.

Administrative History

Golden Key International Honour Society was founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 1977. It is the largest collegiate honor society in the world. In 2001 the name of the organization was altered from Golden Key National Honor Society to Golden Key International Honour Society to reflect its diversity. The spelling of the word "honour" was changed to a more globally accepted spelling. Membership is solely based on academic achievement in all fields of study. The Golden Key Chapter at Eastern Michigan University strives to develop leadership skills in its members and the opportunity to learn how to plan, organize and delegate to others.
