Scope and Contents

The Scholarship records range from the years 1936 to 2006 and are arranged into three series: Administrative files, Media and Scholarship. The Administrative Files series includes the files: academic progress, correspondence, important notices, proposals, and recommendations. The Media series includes clippings, The Faculty bulletin, new releases, pamphlets, and posters. The Scholarship series contains certificates, an honor roll, a loan, scholarship and endowments file, a presidential scholarship competition file, and a scholarship opportunities file.

Abstract

Eastern Michigan University awards millions of dollars in academic scholarships each year. Scholarships are offered to incoming first year students, transfer students, graduate students, as well as students from organizations and agencies outside the University. The Scholarship records range from the years 1936 to 2006 and include correspondence, proposals, clippings, pamphlets, certificates, and scholarship opportunities. The collection has representative documentation of endowed scholarship funds but does not have documentation of every endowed scholarship; documents the activities of the Office of Academic Affairs and Financial Aid; and overall documents the act of awarding students for their academic achievements through academic scholarships.
