Administrative History

The Young Women's Christian Association at Michigan State Normal College was a non-sectarian voluntary association founded on Christian principles in order to build a fellowship of students and faculty on campus. It was originally located in Starkweather Hall (for more on Mary Ann Starkweather see the Starkweather Hall collection in the University Archives).  The purpose of the group, as stated in their constitution, was to "... promote the spirit of Christian fellowship on this campus with its various dominations and races in such a way that we may know each other in the spirit of our heavenly Father.
