The collection documents the department after it was relocated to Pray-Harrold from Pierce Hall in 1986. From 1987 to 1989, Ira Wheatly served as the Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences until the position was given to Barry Fish in 1990. Many of the files in this collection are memos and other correspondence to and from the Dean, discussing many issues including the proposed division of the College of Arts and Sciences into the College of Science and Mathematics and the College of Arts among other topics.
