Eastern Michigan University’s Academic Programs Abroad offers a variety of study abroad programs including cultural history programs, direct exchanges, intensive language and programs offered over winter and summer break. Most programs are open to students from any college or university. EMU students can apply financial aid awards toward the programs. They also provide advising and information about study abroad opportunities available through other universities; work or volunteer opportunities abroad; and budget travel. Although Academic Programs Abroad was for a period of time part of the World College it also operated as a separate entity, and does to this day, with a separate budget.
The World College at Eastern Michigan University was established in 1987 with the mission to help promote and guide the internationalization of courses, programs, departments, and activities across Eastern Michigan University. For a period of time Academic Programs Abroad reported to the World College which was likely dissolved around 2008 as it is last listed in the 2007-2009 Undergraduate Catalog.
