Nobel L. Garrison was head of Education Department at Michigan State Normal College (MSNC)from 1935-1954. Before becoming the head of the department Beginning in 1925, Garrison served as professor and director of elementary education at MSNC. Before coming to Ypsilanti, Garrison worked at Alabama State Normal School, the University of Illinois and the National Bank of Commerce in New York City all in an educational capacity.
The cap, gown and hood included in the collection are representative of Garrison's masters degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia and his PhD from Columbia University in New York City.
