Biographical / Historical

The Office of Special Projects and Research Development was headed by Dr. Kenneth H. Cleeton and was created to facilitate, coordinate, and initiate proejcts and research activities at Eastern Michigan University. SPARD's goal was to assist individual faculty members, committees, departments, and colleges to identify, delineate, design, and construct educationally sound proposals. As head of the of SPARD, Dr. Cleeton negotiated financial aid for university projects, kept staff members informed on legislation beneficial to their research, and performed follow-up studies on projects. -- from a SPARD press release
