Biographical / Historical
The Michigan Council on Economic Education (MCEE) became affiliated with the Joint Council on Economic Education (JCEE) on September 15, 1950. Members of the MCEE represent education, business, industry, labor, and agriculture. Upon its formation, the role of MCEE was to promote and foster concepts, evaluation, ideas, recommendations, and research as they relate to economic education. The leadership had the goal to work in concert with the public and private educational systems of Michigan at all levels toward achieving an understanding by all people regarding all facets of the economics of the individual, state, and nation. According to its foundational documents, “The Michigan Council on Education is the educational-oriented catalyst in meeting the challenge in the field of economic education in Michigan” and its objective is “to produce greater results in eliminating economic illiteracy." MCEE continues to exxist today and can be found at https://www.michiganecon.org/.
