Abstract

The scrapbook in this collection was compiled by Barbara Page while a student at the Michigan State Normal College. Page was born October 18, 1920 in Jackson Michigan to Raymond and Geraldine (Retan) Page. Graduating from highschool in 1937 and attended the Michigan State Normal College where she received her degree in education in the summer of 1942. The majority of items selected were clippings from the Normal News pertaining to the Women's Athletic Association, Page's involvement as an officer in the organization and as a member of the women's basketball team, as well as programs from campus wide musical events.

After graduation in 1942, Page physical education and swimming for five years at Adrian High School. She married G. Robert Roys on April 11, 1947, in Hudson, Michigan and they proceeded to have four children, Janet (Robert Clemens) Roys of Jackson, Mike (Barbara Hart) Roys of Hudson, Kathy Smith of Clayton and Hal (Jean) Roys of Hudson. Widowed in 1971, Page Roys was the librarian at Addison Community Schools until she retired; a member of the Sacred Heart and St. Mary on the Lake Catholic Churches; member of the Young at Heart Volleyball team, and a 2013 inductee to the Addison Athletic Hall of Fame for her basketball prowess while in high school.

Barbara Page Roys died October 17, 2020, just shy of her 100th birthday.
