Scope Note: The AAUG, founded in 1967, is a non-profit, tax-exempt educational and cultural organization dedicated to fostering better understanding between the Arab and American peoples and promoting informed discussion of critical issues concerning the Arab world and North America. The AAUG publishes books, papers, periodicals on Arab and Arab American affairs, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and U.S. foreign policy, holds an annual convention and mid-year conferences that serve as a forum for Middle East specialists and scholars from around the world; provides speakers on topics concerning the Arab world and its people and helps bring its members professional skills to bear on socioeconomic and technological needs of the Arab world.
