Scope and Contents

At times, separate volumes were maintained for different accounting components, while during some periods all accounting was maintained in one volume. All of the records are contained in bound volumes. Each volume is organized in chronological order by department. Several volumes include indexes.
The Michigan State Normal College Financial records have been divided into seven series, based on function: Ledgers, Journals, Day Books, Receipts and Disbursements, Cash Ledgers, Account Books and Inventory of Property.
