Faculty Council records
Scope and Contents
The Faculty Council records span from 1940 to 2011 with the bulk of the records ranging from 1960-1990. Records are arranged into four series: Administration which is arranged alphabetically and includes agendas, budgets, constitutions and bylaws, correspondence, memorandums, enrollments data, plans, polices and procedures, recommendations, budget information, ballots, handbooks, and rules and regulations; Committees and Councils which is arranged by committe or council name and includes agendas, minutes and supporting documentation; Publications which is divided into clippings and subjects files, newsletters and pamphlets and booklets and is arranged chronologically, this series is primarily made up of materials not generated by Faculty Council but collected by its members; and Audio Reels which are arranged chronologically.
The agendas from year 2008 to 2011 contains agendas, meeting minutes, budget, as well as other topic information for the meeting of the day.
Faculty council was renamed Faculty Senate in 2010. There are no records for the Council or Senate currently in the posession of the University Archives that documents 2000-2010. Questions regarding this time should be directed to Faculty Senate. /www.emich.edu/facultysenate/>

Historical
The University Faculty Council, renamed Faculty Senate in 2010, consists of representatives appointed by the Council President from each academic department and learning resources at Eastern Michigan University.
Faculty Council was established to act as the representative voice of the faculty in academic matters that impact more than one college and in matters beyond the Academic Division that are not rights and responsibilities of the University. Faculty Council was responsible for determining general education policy, internal operations, and external relations.
Currently, Faculty Senate meets the first and third Wednesdays of each month during the academic year to discuss topics of importance to the academic community of Eastern Michigan University. For additional information please visit the Faculty Senate website /www.emich.edu/facultysenate/>

Abstract
The collection, Faculty Council records, 1940-2016, includes meeting minutes, agendas, by-laws, correspondence, goals, memos, enrollment data, plans, recommendations, proposals, reports, resolutions, salary and benefit, handbooks, rules and regulations, statements, manuals, council and committees (such as administrative council, athletic council, deans advisory council, sesquicentennial committee, special projects and problems committee) student senate, and board of regents. Also included are surveys, clippings, ballots, newsletters, pamphlets, booklets, and audio reels. Materials are arranged into four series: Administration, Committees and Councils, Publications and Audio reels; records in each series are arranged by subject and then chronologically.
