Abstract

The Eastern Michigan University Building photograph collection documents the architectural heritage of the campus of Eastern Michigan University, the Michigan State Normal College and the Michigan State Normal School. From the nationally recognized Historic District at the core of campus to the late 20th century renovations and additions both on and off campus; this collection documents the photographic history of the buildings on campus, their initial and evolving purposes to support students and student learning, both the exteriors and in some cases the interiors. This is a comprehensive collection with some buildings being better documented than others. Photographs date from 1860-2014 with the bulk of images dating from the 1920-1970s which coincided with the boom of campus construction.
