Summer Institute for the Arts, Science and Techology memorabilia
Abstract
The Summer Institute for the Arts, Science and Technology was a two week residential program for IIth grade students selected by their schools or intermediate school districts because of their abilities and interests. Starting in 1984, Eastern Michigan University was one of five universities participating in the Summer Institute with a focus on communication, politics and the law. During the two weeks participants selected from a series of intensive courses taught by EMU faculty and exploratory sessions offered in a variety of disciplines to round out the educational experience. The program was funded primarily by the Michigan State Board of Education. The Summer Institute for the Arts, Science and Technology memorabilia contains items created to distribute to student participants from three years of the program. There are no administrative records or other documention related to the program in the collection.
