Office of Campus Life records
Scope and Contents
The Office of Campus Life records includes materials pertaining to the activities of the organization and its sub-group which administers student organizations as a whole. The collection includes general records such as clippings, news releases, and administrative records, as well as grouped materials relating to specific events and program. Many of these files include some visual materials, photographs, and memorabilia.
The Office of Campus Life records have been divided into six series: Administrative, Clippings, Communications, ProgramsStudent Organizations and Student Leadership Conferences. The entire collection covers a range from 1934 to 2017, though the bulk of the materials is dated from 1960 to 1998.
The Administrative series includes materials related committees, meeting minutes, and policies/procedures.
The Clippings series includes newspaper clippings and web print-outs from 1970 to 2012. The Communications series includes materials published and distributed by the Office of Campus Life, especially news releases, pamphlets, and student guides. This series also includes posters which have been filed in Box 4 to accommodate their larger size.
The Programs series includes materials related to the planning and execution of programs and events. Several major and recurring events have been separated into their own files in the "Events" subseries. The "Events" subseries also includes computer discs such as CDROMS and DVRs containing audio-visuals of campus events, as well as graphic materials related to the design of promotional materials. This series also includes a small collection of memorabilia, mostly comprised of buttons.
The Student Organizations series includes materials related to the establishment and recognition of student organizations, and includes a subseries of directories. The Student Leadership Conferences Series includes chronological records pertaining to the organization and implementation of 1-2 days conferences for student leaders.
Records pertaining to specific student groups are organized into their own collection of materials and are not included in this collection.

Researchers are asked to request materials 24 hours prior to visiting the the University Archives.
Administrative History
The Office of Campus Life "offers student-centered learning, development and involvement activities that challenge and support the unique gifts, needs, experiences and interests of our students, our professional staff members and members of the broader campus community." (from the Purpose, Goals, Activities file in the Communications series of this collection).
Its core functions include Arts, Intellectual, and Cultural Entertainment programs, Commuter Life information, Leadership and Student involvement, Orientation and Transition programs, and Student Organizations and Greek Life.
