Phi Sigma Pi collection

Identifier: 04.PSP

The Phi Sigma Pi collection consists of materials pertaining to the Eastern Michigan University Alpha Pi chapter of the Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity. Founded on March 16, 1992, Phi Sigma Pi recruits high achieving students who are passionate about developing as leaders and improving humanity through scholarship, leadership and fellowship. This collection is primarily made up of organization scrapbooks made by members, documenting membership through text and photography. The strength of the collection lies in it's representation of the social activities of Phi Sigma Pi, including outings such as community outreach functions, dances, and field trips. Another strength illustrated is the importance of memorobilia such as scrapbooks in preserving the Phi Sigma Pi experience. The weakness of the collection is that it does not contain official organizational records; the collection contains scrapbooks from 1992-1994, with gaps between 1995-1999 and 2001-2005. The collection is divided into three series: scrapbooks, banners and photographs.
