The WEMU records contains history, clippings, correspondence ephemera, events, news releases, management profile, program guides, photographs, studio schedule montage, and EEO policy. The collection is arranged alphabetically. Records date from 1959-2011.

The WEMU records contains two series 1. Administration and History, and 2. Publicity and Outreach. The Publicity and Outreach series contains two sub-series of clippings and program guides.

Historical note

WEMU is a public radio station founded in 1965 as a small student-run public broadcasting program. Since 1977, it has been affiliated with National Public Radio. The radio station primarily covers news, sports and music. It is a known in particular for its broadcasting of jazz music. WEMU operates out of King Hall on the campus of Eastern Michigan University.

Abstract

The WEMU records document the evolution and daily management of National Public Radio affiliate, WEMU. Well known in Southeast Michigan for broadcasting news, sports, and jazz music. The collection includes administrative papers; publicity and outreach materials including clippings, posters, and program guides; photographs, and memorabilia which is primarily related to pledge drives and special events. The collection is arranged alphabetically. Records date from 1959-2011.
