Administrative History Note
Pre-1974, the Women's Commission formed a committee to investigate child care needs on campus after the EMU Children's Center expressed need for an expansion of services. A 1986 proposal for new construction and renovation to expand care services led to increased availability of child care services on campus. Construction and program changes in the late 1980s gave way to the Chidlren's Institute, which included care services for students and staff year-round.
