Scope Note: Children's literature is for readers and listeners up to about age twelve; it is often defined in four different ways: books written by children, books written for children, books chosen by children, or books chosen for children. Books specifically for children existed by the 17th century. Before this time period it is generally believed that books were written mainly for adults.

Abstract Annabelle Sumera who died in 2005 was a 1942 graduate of Michigan State Normal School and 1964 teacher of the year. She was a longtime resident, a principal, and elementary school teacher in Birmingham, Michigan before retiring to write poetry and childrens books, rhymes, and short stories. The Annabelle Sumera Book Collection range from 1970 to 2005 and contains clippings, two childrens books authored by Sumera and two compilations of essays, poems and rhymes...
