Biographical / Historical
Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority is a National Sorority apart of the Panhellenic Council. It was founded at Eastern Michigan University when it was still known as Michigan State Normal College on November 4, 1899. Alpha Sigma Tau is dedicated to promoting ethical, cultural and social development of its members. The organization was originally founded as an educational organization.

Abstract
Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority was founded at Eastern Michigan University in 1899. It was originally founded as an educational organization, but is now regarded as a social sorority. The collection contains two oversized paddles, traditionally given to members by a "big sister".
