Administrative History Note
Built in 1937 to provide athletic fields and an indoor baseball field and fieldhouse. It was dedicated to Walter O. Briggs in 1938, owner of the Detroit Tigers and the only non-alumni or faculty member with a buidling dedicated to them at the university. It was renovated from 1959-1961 to hold classrooms after Bowen Field House was built, and again in 1989.
