Scope and Contents

The Brian Steimel collection is organized into two series: OFFICE FILES and VISUAL MATERIALS. The OFFICE FILES series contains publications from different groups of the campus community, publicity related to campus events, and correspondence, as well as library-specific materials. The VISUAL MATERIALS series contains digital media, library cards, and photographs. Also included in this series are EMU ephemera and a puppet created and used by Steimel.

Abstract The Friends of the EMU Library collection, 1971-2011 primarily documents the second incarnation of the Friends of the Library at Eastern Michigan University. Abstract

The Malcolm X History Day Video collection contains five VHS tapes and five Mini DV tapes that document the proceedings of a conference about Malcolm X. The conference was held at Eastern Michigan University's library and was organized by former library professor Edna Ewell. Records are undated.

Abstract Annabelle Sumera who died in 2005 was a 1942 graduate of Michigan State Normal School and 1964 teacher of the year. She was a longtime resident, a principal, and elementary school teacher in Birmingham, Michigan before retiring to write poetry and childrens books, rhymes, and short stories.
