Dorothy James papers
Dorothy James was a Professor of music theory and composition at Michigan State Normal College from 1928 until 1969. James was also a nationally known composer. Her papers consist primarily of her original compositions as well as correspondence, clippings, and concert programs. The papers are arranged alphabetically. Records date from 1920 to 1983.

The final series of Recordings and Sheet Music includes recording of several concerts and performances at Eastern Michigan University and Michigan State Normal College that includes Concert Winds and Glee Club, Eastern Michigan University Madrigals, guest artists, poetry series, Symphonic Band, and Ypsilanti Normal Choir. The sheet music in this collection was either composed by faculty, staff or alumni and/or has a specific connection to the University such as the fight song.
