The Martin F. Dickerson collection are the materials of Mr. Dickerson's from his time enrolled in two correspondence courses through the Michigan State Normal College in 1954. Students who were unable to have their course needs met through the extension office were allowed to take correspondence courses, which if completed satisfactorily would carry the same weight as those taken on campus. Dr. Michael Harris was Associate Provost at Eastern Michigan University, as well as a professor of political science specializing in public policy and administration. In 1994, Dr. Harris became a professor at EMU, and in 2000 was appointed Associate Provost. The Michigan Seal with Personal Note contains a framed, embosed Michigan State Seal. The seal has a short description beneath it, as well as a personal note. The ink has faded considerably, but it seems the seal was a welcome gift to a new facutly or staff member at Eastern Michigan University.
